Waiheke Island
Ferries to the island By MK
There are both people and car ferries going to Waiheke every day. They are pretty easy and relaible but here are a few tips i've found to be useful over the years:
Car Ferries
If you want a car on the island, it is so much easier to grab one in Auckland and ferry it across. The car ferry makes things pretty easy, you don't even need to get out of your car. You leave all your gear in the car and it makes travel a bit more relaxing. If you are organising a car ferry please A) book at least 2 weeks prior (or now) B) take note of the departure place. Ferries leave from different places.
For cars or people, please book via http://www.sealink.co.nz/waiheke/fares
For people ONLY, please book via http://www.fullers.co.nz/tickets-fares/timetables/waiheke-island.php
If you have booked, keep note of your booking number. They will give you your return tickets when you get there.
Waiheke- There are also 2 ferry terminals in Waiheke, Matiatia & Kennedy Point. Generally Fullers use Matiatia and Sealink (car) use Kennedy Point.
HALF MOON BAY (Auckland) - this is where most of the car ferries leave from. It is at least 30 minutes from the Auckland CBD so give yourself plenty of time. A GPS is recommended to find this place.
